What Students May Learn

Using this kit allows students to learn how to read and follow directions. Students will assemble the kit then use it to perform experiments. Students will learn how to wire simple series and parallel circuits. Students will also observe and learn about the conversion of electrical to mechanical energy, electrical to light energy, solar cells converting light to electrical energy. Students observe how changing the voltage in a circuit effects the power produced by a motor. Students will create and use an electromagnet to observe and learn how electricity in a circuit can create a magnetic field. Students will vary the voltage to an electromagnet and determine how the strength of a magnetic field of an electromagnet is related to the voltage in a circuit. Students will observe how gears allow motion to occur. Additionally, students will learn how to calculate the average speed of an object.
